iWaste Off-Set Carbon Footprint With Forest Carbon Partnership

iWaste is kick-starting 2020 by off-setting its carbon emissions through an exciting partnership with Forest Carbon, starting in January.

Carbon emissions produced by the company’s waste collecting vehicles, and employees journeys to and from work, will be off-set through UK woodland carbon capture. This will help create new woodlands that benefit the country, the landscape and the global environment.

iWaste anticipate that 108 tonnes of the company’s carbon footprint will be off-set through Forest Carbon and will go towards supporting various initiatives across the country.

So far, Forest Carbon, together with their partners like iWaste, have planted over 7.0 million trees in the UK, in both independently audited woodland and areas certified under the UK Woodland Carbon Code – the government backed standard which provides complete assurance of the high quality carbon investment for corporate organisations.

In addition to capturing CO2, woodland delivers other local and tangible benefits for biodiversity, landscape, flood management, water quality and recreation.

Sam Prentice, iWaste director, is excited about the new partnership and positive effect it will have, not only on the environment, but on staff morale and client perception.

He says: “Since we started iWaste seven years ago, we’ve always made it a priority to practise what we preach. Our commitment to making a difference, whether it’s through our 98% recycling process or investing in carbon off-setting, motivates staff and instils confidence in our customer that we are the right provider for them.

“Customers and employees like to see businesses behave responsibly and with integrity. What we love about Forest Carbon is the tangible nature of their initiatives. We’re able to see real change from the investment we’re making as a business.

"This echoes iWaste’s ethos on how we work with our clients and provides the perfect partnership. Together we can start to make positive steps towards a brighter future.”
